De Niro, a son of the great Donnerhall, has inherited his sire's qualities. At his stallion performance test in 1996, he was placed first, with a dressage/rideability score of 145.41, and he has gone on to be acknowledged as one of the greatest warmblood stallions of his generation in the world.

In 2000, De Niro was declared the best new generation Grand Prix dressage horse, having wins at Prix St Georges, Intermediare I and II and Grand Prix - all at the age of seven! In 2001, he won the German Professional Riders' Championship as the best up-and-coming Grand Prix horse.

De Niro now has over 20 licensed sons. His foals have topped the Elite Hanoverian Foals Auctions - a 2½ yr old son sold for 530,000 DM at the stallion licensing auction, whilst 6 of his progeny have sold as young riding horses at sales for between 100,000 and 430,000 DM. His progeny are showing huge promise as dressage horses.
