Breeders, importers and producers
of top quality Hanoverian
dressage horses
Feraree was British-bred at The Old Manse Stud by Lorna M McWilliam from imported
Holsteiner parents, sold to Maggie Robins, the Scottish showjumper, as a yearling
and jumped by her to Grade B until a tragic accident cut short his sporting career.
Maggie Robins described Feraree as "having the heart of a lion, never refused, he
would have ridden up to the side of a bus and jumped it for me, a true gentleman
always, loved the big, power, speed courses, all massive tracks, very beautiful,
with masses of presence and cadence. He always stopped the show with his "look at
me" quality. He would pop 5'9" fences for fun at home as a 5-year-old."
Feraree's daughter Beechbank Cleopatra won many young horse classes in Scotland,
including the 4-year-old Potential Dressage Horse at the SSH Show, selected by visting
judges from the KWPN in Holland. In the same year she won many 4 and 5-year-old Novice
ridden classes, in addition to achieving double clears in British Novice and Discovery.
In 2002 she ended a winning season as Champion and Reserve, finally Grading at First
Premium and First overall with the highest mare score recorded in Scotland that year,
independently assessed by visiting KWPN judges from Holland. Another of his offspring,
Shawhill Jacko, who was owned by the late Cathy McDowall and ridden by Kelly Fitzgerald,
won numerous Newcomers, Discovery and Foxhunter classes, and was purchased by a dressage
rider on Mrs McDowall's death. Feraree also had a graded son, Beechbank Fable, a
dual purpose stallion whose own career was tragically halted on his way to Grade
A at the age of 6 as a result of an accident in the field.
Feraree's impressive pedigree
is littered at every level with the most desirable, performance tested, proven sires
of modern times. His natural, uphill, expressive paces now standing him in good stead
for dressage, he is truly the complete package.
